Katja-Eichinger-Drehbuch-Stipendium für BEING SOMEONE ELSE
2018-07 Für ihren geplanten Abschlussfilm, die Verwechselungs-komödie BEING SOMEONE ELSE (AT) sind Julia Walter und Drehbuch-studentin Luise Lindner mit dem Katja-Eichinger-Drehbuch-Stipendium ausgezeichnet worden. Das Stipendium unterstützt Studierende der HFF München beim Schreiben eines Drehbuchs zum Studien-Abschluss. Eingereicht werden konnten Drehbuchstoffe für abendfüllende Spielfilme für die Kinoleinwand. Katja Eichinger hat die Entscheidung zur Vergabe ihres Stipendiums gemeinsam mit HFF-Alumnus Herman Weigel sowie HFF-Drehbuchprofessor Michael Gutmann getroffen.Katja Eichinger: „BEING SOMEONE ELSE (...) ist ein populärer Stoff, der die Themen Identität und Familienbande behandelt und das anspruchsvolle Unterhaltungskino repräsentiert.“

2014-06-03 Julias short film comedy GARDEN F(R)IEND (GARTENFEIND) has been invited to several festivals already e.g. to Russia, France and the USA and now finally has its German TV Premiere at Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR).

JOB INTERVIEW wins BEST SHORT FILM
2014-07-12 We are pleased to announce that JOB INTERVIEW was awarded the jury award for BEST SHORT FILM at the ETHERIA FILM NIGHT.
This festival is a "showcase of the best new horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, and thriller films from emerging female directors" and was held at the prestigious Egyptian Theater right on Hollywood Bouldevard.
Julia Walter was present in LA to happily receive the award.

Murnau Short Film Award for JOB INTERVIEW
2014-05 Producers Daniel Rohm and Jakob Vogt from Rovolution Film received the Murnau Short Film Award for JOB INTERVIEW. This prize is one of the highest honors for german short films and awards shorts that are "especially suitable to screen at movie theaters".
JOB INTERVIEW wins two Awards in India
2014-05 JOB INTERVIEW was awarded twice at the Chennai Women's International Film Festival in India in the categories BEST SHORT FILM and BEST DIRECTOR. This is Julias first "best director" award! Get an impression of the award ceremony here.
Cannes 2014 Screening of JOB INTERVIEW
2014-05 Among nine other "most remarkable German student shorts under 15 minutes" JOB INTERVIEW is part of the NEXT GENERATION SHORT TIGER program that premiered at Cannes and will screen at several international festivals throughout the year.
At Cannes the team of JOB INTERVIEW met Academy Award Winner Caroline Link who was one of the three jury members of this year's Next Generation Short Tiger.

2013-06 | Julias nächstes Kurzfilmprojekt als Regisseurin ist die Sommer-Komödie GARTENFEIND, eine Koproduktion von u.a. HFF München und BR. Das Drehbuch stammt von Sina Flammang, die Kamera übernimmt Aline László. Der Dreh ist für diesen Sommer geplant.

Die bayerische Kleingarten-Tyrannin Oma Gerti (Monika Baumgartner) kann ihren Augen nicht trauen: Ihre pubertierende Enkelin Merci (Nadja Sabersky) verliebt sich ausgerechnet in den viel älteren Berliner Hipster-Schönling Simon (Joshua Grothe), der seit neuestem im Nachbargarten chillt - und das meistens oben ohne! Das muss ein Ende haben und Gerti beschließt: Simon muss weg.
Garden plot tyrant Gerti can’t believe her eyes; her young teenage granddaughter Merci is falling for the much older Berlin bred Simon, the hipster-hottie who recently started chilling in the neighbouring garden - often topless! This has to stop and Gerti decides that drastic measures must be taken to get rid of him.

Die patente Rentnerin und Zeitungs-austrägerin Martha entsorgt ihre Anzeigen-blättchen auf Karls Grundstück. Das gefällt dem alten Herrn allerdings ganz und gar nicht und so macht er seinem Unmut lautstark Luft. Prompt holt Martha zum Gegenschlag aus. Mit bezaubernden Folgen.
Martha – who delivers the newspaper during her retirement – disposes her newspaper bundles on Karl’s property. The elderly man is of course not quite pleased with this discovery and starts yelling at her. But Martha strikes back - with charming results…

Julia Walter, 1984 in Erfurt geboren und in Hamburg aufgewachsen, studierte zunächst Literaturwissenschaft und Philosophie und arbeitete als 1. Regieassistentin bevor sie ihr Regiestudium an der Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München aufnahm, das sie 2020 mit Diplom abschloss.
Mit ihren Filmen ist sie erfolgreich auf nationalen und internationalen Festivals vertreten und gewann zahlreiche Preise, darunter den Blaue Blume Award für den schönsten romantischen Kurzfilm, den Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau Kurzfilmpreis, den "Student Award" beim Hamptons Intl. Film Festival und den Winter Film Awards New York. Außerdem war sie mit JOB INTERVIEW Teil des Next Generation Short Tiger Programms 2014 von German Films, das die besten deutschen Kurzfilme u.a. in Cannes präsentiert. Im selben Jahr war Julia auf Einladung des Zürich Film Festivals "High Potential Talent" Teilnehmerin der dortigen Master Class. Aktuell arbeitet Julia an ihrem Langfilmdebüt, der Verwechslungskomödie BEING SOMEONE ELSE, für deren Stoffentwicklung sie bereits das Katja-Eichinger-Stipendium erhielt, sowie der Tragikomödie STILL THERE, deren Drehbuchentwicklung von der FFA gefördert wurde.

Born in Erfurt / East Germany in 1984, Julia Walter studied literature and philosophy while working as an assistant director and interning at a number of film production companies. She studied directing at the prestigious University of Television and Film Munich (HFF) and graduated with a diploma in 2020.
Julia’s short films have been invited to multiple film festivals all over the world and recieved several awards, among them The Murnau-Short Film Award, The Blaue Blume Romance Award, and Student Awards at Hamptons Int. Film Festival and Winter Film Awards New York . Her short thriller JOB INTERVIEW was also part of the Next Generation Short Tiger program, a showcase of the best German short films, that premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2014. In the same year Julia was invited to the Zurich Film Festival Academy as a "High Potential Talent". Currently Julia is working on her feature film debut, the Comedy of Errors BEING SOMEONE ELSE which was awarded with the Katja-Eichinger-Stipendium already. Also Julia and her writing partner Jakob Vogt are developing the tragicomedy STILL THERE that recieved sript funding by FFA in 2021.
